I realise this is not the most important thing in the world...
But DC's handling of the Titans lately has pissed me off.
Recently, they've been shitting all over Roy, aka Red Arrow/Speedy/Arsenal/whatever he's called this week. I admit, I don't read all the comics with him in. I pretty much just read Titans, Tiny Titans and Gotham City Sirens at the minute, because I don't like what they're doing with Dick and fucking hate McKeever on Teen Titans. So, I may be slightly misinformed. DC could have a perfectly good excuse for taking Roy's arm, destroying his city and killing his daughter.
The worst part is most of it seems to me to be just another way to make Ollie, aka Green Arrow, angst. There's been a bit of advertising about Ollie's "rise and fall", and I've heard he's gone all vengeful hero. (So would I if a supervillain killed my grandchild.) But that is not the point of this rant.
In Titans 23, most of the Titans look back on their early days as Roy lies unconscious in hospital. Dick, Donna and Wally all remember how it was differently, but all of them have one thing in common.
Roy was the buttmonkey.
Seriously, every flashback is all "Roy was a rebel, Roy was a jerk, Roy doesn't take things seriously, the Titans don't need Roy." Every time the relationship between Roy and Donna is mentioned, it's in the context of someone else telling him they'll fuck his shit up if he hurts her, because naturally that's all he could possibly do.*eyeroll*
Here's a quote from the narration, by Wally: "-Roy only knows how to make things worse. He'll never better himself." (Emphasis from the comic) The context is the three of them going to see Roy in the hospital, and Wally flashbacks to finding Speedy injecting. The narration boxes are on the next couple of pages, looking at Roy in his bed, hooked up to all the machines. Like it's his fault.
Bullshit.
The part where Robin and Kid Flash discover him shooting up is understandable, these are straight-laced kids and probably haven't learnt that the good guys can mess up too yet, but the others?
The Teen Titans are a family. They take care of each other, and even if they bicker they don't let it break them apart. Dick especially was very close to Roy in everything I remember reading, and would never say, "To be honest, back then, we didn't want any part of him." Roy has lived up to mistakes, dealt with the consequences and still manages to be a good guy and a good father. This crap that's happening to him isn't his fault, and the Titans, his family would know that.
I don't know who these guys are, but they're not the Titans.

of this rant, I mean. he'd chew on these issues of Titans and spit them into the comic-burning fire.

Off note - Ollie doesn't need a 'rise and fall', he doesnt been to become 'angsty' or 'vengueful', Killing his grandaughter just for that is unexcusable, killing any child is.... That being said by a fan of 'The Darkness' where a Orphenage is blown up. ¬_¬

And killing Lian will break them. Noone wanted that, and it's just disgusting. *rage*
