# Day 02 - What was your very first ship?

My very first ship was Harry/Draco, in Harry Potter fandom. I was introduced to it via Sirius/Remus fics written by a friend at school, who got me into fic in the first place. I love their dynamic, the whole Foe Yay element, and I love that most fics for this pairing deal with the aftermath of the war, the horror and rebuilding and PTSD that people would be going through. These two are not fluffy and sweet. They snark and fight and bitch and hurt each other, but they come back because no one else gets them.

Harry is oblivious and intense and often so uncaring that he's cruel, and Draco is selfish and sneaky and cruel on purpose. They're also fiercely loyal and protective of the people they love, have good senses of humour and are endearingly daft sometimes.

Can you tell I still ship this? XD

I think they'll be one of the great slash pairings of our time, you know? Like Kirk/Spock. There's just so much to love. XD

I very rarely end up reading Harry Potter fanfic anymore, but you managed to just summarize all that is/was awesome about the Harry/Draco pairing.

You also managed to finally put down into words the misgivings I always have about Harry! I mean, I agree with Dumbledore. I think, to an extent, he is pretty selfless. But he's just...too much of it. Too engrossed in it, and that makes him an utter idiot sometimes.

That and, c'mon. He's seventeen.

Harry is very selfless, but while he loves his own, and he cares about the world in a general way, he doesn't really care about people individually. I think his childhood with the Dursleys, and then being more or less raised as a weapon has messed him up regarding relationships.

And, yeah. Seventeen. XD
